News News and More News

So, I know it's been a while but forgive me as I've been knee deep in newborn baby things!

Biggest news, of course, has been the arrival of our sweet Sofia. She was born on Wednesday, February 25th at 2:38 pm. She weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz. (Maddie was 7 lbs 2 oz and Audrey was 7 lbs 5 oz, so Sofia was the biggest by just a smidge) and was 19.5" long (Maddie was 19.75" and Audrey was 20.5", making Sofia the shortest by a little bit.) So far she has been an easy baby aside from her occasional newborn fussiness.

Her birth was quite easy. My labor, according to my midwife, lasted just 5 hours and I pushed for a total of 6 minutes! Literally 3 pushes and she was out!

In the days and hours leading up to her arrival, I experienced many emotional moments with lots of tears both out of missing Audrey as well as anticipating the arrival of our newest daughter. I hope to write out her birth story soon.

She is 3 weeks and 1 day old today. I finally managed to go for a slow run this morning (alternating walking a lap and running a lap) and it really felt really good to start doing some of my "normal" activities. For nearly 2 years, I have either been pregnant, thinking about getting pregnant or trying to get pregnant. It feels good to start being myself again. And, I actually fit into a pair of pre-pregnancy jeans today!

Other news:

1. Alex started his new job on March 2 and is enjoying it so far. The commute is a bit of a bear but he's enjoying the new challenge.

2. The new house is nearly complete. We have our inspection on April 1 and should have the keys by April 15. We drive by it all the time to check the progress and we get more and more excited about our dream house each day.

3. I'm so proud.....tomorrow will mark my mom and dad's 38th wedding anniversary!!!! They are currently at the beach house enjoying some peace and quiet - I am continually in awe of the commitment they have to one another, through good times and bad.

I also just want to share, too, that I am also amazed at how generous and loving they are on a daily basis. Without sharing too much, just know that Alex and I are the luckiest people to have parents (in-laws in Alex's case) that love and support us in so many ways.
